Despite fewer than two weeks remaining in 2025, a difficult year for breweries in the Sacramento area is not over just yet. An El Dorado Hills brewing company announced on December 21 it would shut its doors at the end of the year, the Sacramento Bee reported.

Mraz Brewing Co., 2222 Francisco Drive, Suite 510, in El Dorado Hills, will pour its last pint on New Year’s Eve, the company said in an Instagram post.

“Like many small businesses, we’ve faced ongoing challenges that made it clear this was the right time to close this chapter,” the post reads.

Mraz is the third major brewery in the Sacramento region that has planned to shut down in 2025. In April, Device Brewing Co. closed all three of its taprooms and Track 7 Brewing Co. shuttered its two locations abruptly in May.

Mike Mraz originally opened his brewery in 2013, after years of brewing out of his home, even winning two California State Homebrewing Awards.

The El Dorado Hills taproom quickly earned a trove of accolades for its famed fruit sours, Belgian-style ales and more, starting with two gold medals at the 2014 California State Fair. At the 2018 state fair, the brewery was named the best in California.

Now, 12 years after its opening, the brewery is preparing for its final last call. According to the Instagram post, everything in the taproom — from brewing equipment to artwork and yes, beer — will be up for sale.

In the announcement, Mraz’s team thanked the foothills community for its years of support and encouraged folks to stop by in the lead-up to the Wednesday, Dec. 31 closure.

“This space has always been more than a brewery,” the post reads. “We are endlessly grateful to every single person who walked through our doors ... you gave this brewery a soul — and that never disappears.”
