Brewery news

A Fort Worth brewpub known for craft beer and good food to match is closing: Bankhead Brewing Co., which has been slinging pizza and pouring beer near the West Seventh area, at 611 University Dr., since 2021, will be shutting its doors, Culture Map Fort Worth reported on December 23.

Their last day open at the location will be December 30.

Founder Vivek Rajbahak calls it a new chapter, and says they'll re-open at another location around Dallas-Fort Worth. He's currently looking at a few spaces and expects to decide in the coming months.

"Earlier this year, we received an exceptional offer for our Fort Worth property," Rajbahak says. "I wasn't looking. We loved being in that location and planned to be there for a while. But these guys were very persistent, and it made sense — especially in Fort Worth, which is going through serious gentrification right now. So we eventually accepted it."

Rajbahak says he doesn't know what the plans will be for the old space, other than it's probably "something vertical."

A former executive for Pabst, Rajbahak founded Bankhead in 2016, opening their first location in Rowlett. Fort Worth was their second, followed by Farmers Branch which they opened in 2024. The other two locations are both still open and thriving.

Bankhead is the rare brewery that places as much attention on food and cocktails as it does its house-brewed craft beer, with a menu that features burgers, brick-oven pizzas, meat loaf, fish & chips, and shared plates like avocados stuffed with smoked brisket and prosciutto-wrapped jalapeños.

Signature dishes include their BLTA Dip, with bacon, spinach, artichokes, and Parmesan cheese served with flatbread triangles; the Bankhead pretzel with beer-infused sriracha beer cheese soup & house mustard; and the Street Taco pizza, with fajita beef, white onions, cilantro, mozzarella, and salsa verde.

Pizza is their specialty, baked in a wood-fired oven, in varieties such as meatball with ricotta, sausage with goat cheese, and a veggie with Brussels sprouts & artichokes.

Rajbahak is inviting all members of the "Bankhead family" to turn out for their going-away party on Tuesday, December 30, with live music from the band Latin Express.

"This isn’t a goodbye story, it’s a growth story," he says. "We’re already exploring new locations and I'm optimistic about what’s ahead in 2026 and beyond."
