Vietnam: Saigon - Hanoi Beer Joint Stock Company’s Q3 net revenue up by 3%
|
According to the Q3/2026 financial report of Saigon - Hanoi Beer Joint Stock Company, the company’s net revenue reached VND 162 billion, an increase of approximately 3% compared to VND 158 billion in the same period last year.
However, the cost of goods sold increased from VND 138 billion to VND 145 billion, causing gross profit to decrease from VND 19.6 billion to VND 17 billion. Consequently, the gross profit margin decreased from approximately 12.4% to 10.4%.
In terms of financial activities, revenue reached over 3 billion VND, almost equivalent to the same period last year. Financial expenses decreased from nearly 1 billion VND to 279 million VND, while selling expenses reached 644 million VND.
Business management expenses increased slightly to VND 4.6 billion. Although the increase was not significant, this expense still accounted for a substantial proportion of the company's gross profit. After deducting expenses, net profit from business operations reached VND 14.6 billion, a decrease of approximately 16% compared to the same period last year.
In the third quarter, other income reached nearly 225 million VND, a significant increase compared to nearly 12 million VND in the same period last year. The company recorded results from other activities totaling 217 million VND.

India: Carlsberg's India unit moves closer to a public listing
|
Danish brewer Carlsberg's India unit moved closer to a public listing as it filed an updated draft prospectus for an initial public offering late on October 28, Reuters reported.
This is the first public IPO prospectus from Carlsberg India, which had confidentially filed papers for the planned offering in July. India's markets regulator approved it earlier this month.
The IPO is entirely an offer for sale of 86.42 million shares, the draft prospectus dated October 27 showed.
The move adds to a string of multinational companies turning to Indian equity markets to monetise their investments, rather than raise fresh capital. Hyundai Motor and LG Electronics have both pursued stake sales via Indian IPOs, attracted by relatively richer market valuations.
The potential listing would add to a busy period for India's IPO market, where large offerings from Jio Platforms and National Stock Exchange of India have shown strong investor appetite.
Carlsberg India operates through seven breweries it owns and nine third party manufacturers in India. It has a market share of 21.9% in 16 key states and union territories in Asia's third-largest economy, the updated prospectus showed.
The Indian unit's profit for the quarter ended June dropped 3.9% to 1.58 billion rupees ($16.61 million), while net revenue

Vietnam: SABECO ranked Vietnam’s most reputable alcoholic beverage company in 2026
|
Saigon Beer-Alcohol-Beverage Corporation (SABECO) has been named Vietnam’s most reputable alcoholic beverage company in 2026 by Vietnam Report, maintaining its position at the top of the ranking for several consecutive years.
The ranking reflects the company’s business performance, product innovation and standing among consumers and market stakeholders.
The results were announced at a ceremony in Hanoi last week, organised by Vietnam Report in collaboration with Vietnamnet newspaper to honour leading companies in the food, beverage, retail, packaging and high-tech agriculture sectors.
According to Vietnam Report, demand for food and beverages is recovering, while consumers are paying greater attention to product quality, safety and origin. These trends are prompting businesses to focus more on product development, supply chain management and building consumer trust.
SABECO ranked first in the alcoholic beverage category based on criteria including financial capacity, media reputation and market credibility, as assessed through surveys of consumers and other stakeholders.
SABECO draws on more than 150 years of brewing heritage in Vietnam. The company operates 26 breweries, has a distribution network covering more than 200,000 sales outlets nationwide and exports its products to more than 40 international markets.
Its established brands include Bia Saigon, Bia 333 and Bia Lạc Viet. The company has also expanded its

China: Fujian Yanjing Huiquan Brewery reports higher third-quarter profit as revenue slips
|
Fujian Yanjing Huiquan Brewery, the regional Chinese brewer known as Huiquan Beer, reported higher third-quarter profit even as revenue slipped, as stronger sales of higher-priced beer offset weakness in its conventional products, Vinetur reported on October 26.
In an unaudited quarterly report filed on CNINFO and reproduced in full by the financial portal CFi.cn, the company said third-quarter net profit attributable to shareholders rose 13.98% from a year earlier to 67.23 million yuan. Revenue for the same period fell 2.78% to 218.18 million yuan.
The figures point to a clear change in Huiquan’s sales mix in its main market of Fujian province in southeastern China. For the first nine months of the year, revenue from mid-range and premium beer reached 241.14 million yuan, up 19.68% from a year earlier. Revenue from conventional beer fell 8.61% to 332.32 million yuan.
That shift was large enough to outweigh the drop in lower-priced products. Compared with the same period a year earlier, mid-range and premium beer added 39.65 million yuan in revenue in the first nine months, while conventional beer lost 31.32 million yuan, according to the figures in the filing reproduced by CFi.cn.
The same pattern appeared in the latest quarter. Compared with the third quarter

Romania: Beer sector supports Romanian agriculture in 78% of the country's counties
|
Romanian brewers organised an event on October 27 focusing on the impact of the beer sector on Romanian agriculture, within the Committee on Agriculture, Forestry, the Food Industry and Specific Services of the Chamber of Deputies. The aim was to promote partnerships between local farmers, malt processors and breweries, as well as to highlight the potential of land cultivated with brewing barley and to identify the legislative solutions needed to strengthen the domestic supply chain, the Business Review reported.
During the event, industry representatives highlighted the deeply national character of beer, with over 95.5% of domestic consumption being met by domestic production. The beer sector is a major buyer for Romanian agriculture, with 80 per cent of the ingredients used (brewing barley and hops) coming directly from local crops, and it provides 9,000 jobs in agriculture out of a total of 57,800 jobs generated across the entire value chain of the beer sector. Nationwide, malting barley is grown in 32 counties, whilst hops are grown in 3 counties.
“The event organised by Berarii României has confirmed to us that the beer sector is a model to follow in terms of an integrated value chain, from grain to the consumer’s table. The

|
Cervejas de Moçambique (CDM) increased its profits by 51.7% in 2025 to 2.588 billion meticais (€36.3 million), according to the company’s annual report and accounts, Club of Mozambique reported.
According to the document, this compares with a net profit of 1.706 billion meticais (€24 million) in the previous year. Sales in 2025 enabled the brewer to achieve a gross profit of 10.8 billion meticais (€151.4 million), up from 8.4 billion meticais (€117.1 million) recorded in 2024.
The company’s turnover also grew by 16.9% to 26.670 billion meticais (€374 million) in 2025.
CDM decided to distribute dividends of 8.15 meticais per share (€0.11), corresponding to a total of 1.292 billion meticais (€18.1 million), more than double the 520 million meticais (€7.3 million) distributed in respect of the previous financial year.
Cervejas de Moçambique is part of the Belgian AB InBev group, which holds 83.01% of its share capital. The Mozambican state, with a 1.37% stake, and the National Social Security Institute (INSS), with 2.6%, are also shareholders.
Considered one of the country’s largest companies, CDM was established on 1 August 1995 following the privatisation of the MacMahon and Manica breweries, in Maputo and Beira, respectively. The company currently owns some of the best-known beer brands on

UK: Heineken urges pubs to sell half-pints to cope with fat jabs
|
Heineken has urged pubs to serve more half-pints as the growing popularity of weight-loss jabs threatens beer sales, Yahoo Finance reported on October 23.
The Dutch brewing giant has warned landlords that traditional drinking sessions where people enjoy several pints could become rarer as millions turn to appetite-suppressing medication.
It has advised pubs and bars to prioritise smaller drinks, low-alcohol beers and smaller portions to avoid losing customers.
According to a presentation seen by Reuters, Heineken warned hospitality businesses that medicines such as Ozempic and Wegovy could reduce demand for beer and cider by making drinkers feel fuller and less inclined to order food and drink.
The warning comes as Britain's hospitality industry struggles with rising costs and as customers cut back on spending.
Heineken, which owns more than 2,000 pubs in Britain, said it was already detecting changes in drinking habits among people who were on weight-loss medication.
"We see some changes in consumption behaviour among users and will continue to monitor how these behaviours evolve in 2027," a spokesman said.
Research by PwC in June estimated that around three million UK adults were using weight-loss jabs. It predicted that the figure could rise to seven million as pill-based treatments become more widely available.

The Czech Republic: Heineken to stop brewing beer at its Velké Březno facility
|
Heineken will stop brewing beer at its Velké Březno brewery near Ústí nad Labem and move production of the Březňák brand to other facilities within the group, Expats.cz reported on October 28.
The change will affect approximately 20 employees, the company confirmed to Ústecký deník. The site will retain its distribution and logistics operations, while Heineken plans a space presenting the brand’s history.
The announcement marks a shift from the company’s position in March, when it rejected suggestions that the brewery would close and said a reduction in production would not involve layoffs.
Březňák will remain on sale, with production transferred to other Heineken breweries. The company says it intends to preserve the original recipe, ingredients and key elements of the traditional brewing process.
“We are adjusting the scale of production gradually in response to developments in the Czech beer market, particularly the continuing decline in beer consumption and rising energy costs,” Heineken’s external relations director Robert Kičina told Ústecký deník.
The Czech division also owns Starobrno and the Royal Brewery of Krušovice. The report did not specify which facilities would take over individual Březňák products or when brewing in Velké Březno would end.
In March, a company spokeswoman told ČTK that approximately 25 people worked

China & Russia: China sold almost 10 times more beer to Russia than Russia sold to China
|
China sold almost 10 times more beer to Russia than it bought from Russia in the first nine months of 2026, according to Chinese customs data reported by the Russian financial news agency Finmarket.
Data from the General Administration of Customs of China showed that Chinese beer exports to Russia reached $44.9 million from January through September, up 34.4% from $33.4 million in the same period a year earlier. Over the same nine months, Russia’s beer exports to China fell to $4.7 million from $9.1 million, a drop of 48.3%.
The figures point to a widening gap in the bilateral beer trade. In value terms, China’s sales to Russia were 9.55 times larger than Russia’s sales to China during the period. That left a bilateral trade balance of $40.2 million in China’s favor.
The September data showed some short-term improvement for Russian exporters, even as the broader yearly trend remained negative. Russia shipped $620,300 worth of beer to China in September, up 3.6 times from $169,800 in September 2025 and 26.7% above the $489,500 recorded in August 2026.
China’s beer shipments to Russia also remained strong in September, though they eased from the previous month. Chinese exports totaled $5.9 million in September, up 43.9%

India: Liquor trade group asks government to clarify Scotch tariffs under U.K. trade deal
|
A trade group representing major liquor companies in India has asked the government for urgent intervention after Indian investigators told importers that reduced tariffs under the new India-United Kingdom trade deal do not apply to bulk shipments of Scotch whisky concentrates, according to a letter reviewed by Reuters.
The dispute centers on one of the most closely watched parts of the trade agreement, which took effect on July 15 after years of negotiations. Under the pact, India agreed to cut import duties on certain Scotch whisky products from 150% to 75% immediately, with the rate set to fall to 40% over 10 years. The British government had said the deal would help flagship U.K. products such as whisky.
But Indian tax investigators have privately told companies that bulk imports of Scotch whisky concentrate should not receive the lower 75% duty and instead must be classified under a customs category that attracts the full 150% tariff, three people with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters. That position has raised the first major dispute over implementation of the free trade deal and has alarmed companies that rely on imported Scotch spirit for products made and sold in India.
