The EU Commisison has been asked to investigate whether Denmark gives its brewers and border shops indirect government subsidies by giving the brewers a refund for packaging levies they have never paid, Jyllands-Posten write. Some bottles sold in Germany end up in Denmark, wherge they are disposed in the grocery stores and introduced into the bottle recycling system without the breweries ever having to pay levies for them. Therefore, the MEP Freddy Blak has asked the EU Commission to investigate whether this is a form of indirect state support for the brewers.
