The Danish brewer Carlsberg announced on March 25 two appointments to its management in Malaysia and Croatia.

Bjørn Søndenskov takes over as Managing Director of Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia as of April 1, 2003.
He takes over from Jørgen Bornhøft, who was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Carlsberg Asia Pte Limited in January this year. Jørgen Bornhøft is, however, continuing as Chairman of Carlsberg Brewery Malaysia.

Bjørn Søndenskov has been with Carlsberg Breweries A/S since 1988 and is currently a member of the Management Board of Carlsberg Breweries' German subsidiary Hannen responsible for finance, IT, and production. He has previously held senior positions within Carlsberg with responsibilities mainly for European markets.

As of April 1, 2003 Jørn Pedersen is appointed Managing Director of Panonska pivovara, in Koprivnica situated northeast of the capital Zagreb. Presently Jørn Pedersen is Business Development Manager in Carlsberg Breweries A/S working with subsidiaries in Eastern Europe and new business activities such as supervising the integration of the two Bulgarian breweries Carlsberg Breweries acquired in 2002. In 1998 he was Deputy Managing Director of Panonska pivovara and has been a member of the Supervisory Board of Panonska since 2002. Prior to that he worked four years in Malawi.

Panonska is the third largest brewery in Croatia with a market share of 10%. Carlsberg Breweries increased its shareholding in the brewery in May 2002 to 80% from 40%. The Danish Investment Fund has the remaining 20% shareholding in the company.

The main brand Tuborg has a strong position in the premium segment of the market. The portfolio also includes Pan as a strong mainstream brand and the two regional brands Kaj and Podravka.
