Lithuanian Brewing companies exported about 550 thousand litres of beer in January-February 2003, 22.2% more then for the same period last year (450 thousand litres), Lithuanian Brewers Association reported in a statement. According to the same source Lithuanian brewers exported about 300 thousand litres of beer in February 2003, 14.3% less compared to the same period of 2002 year (350 thousand litres of beer).

The biggest exporters in January-February were Kalnapilis and Vilniaus tauras, which exported about 260 thousand litres of beer for the period, 3.3 times more than for January-February 2002 (60 thousand litres). Gubernija brewery exported 160 thousand litres of beer or 3 times more than for the same period of the previous year.

The leading brewer Svyturys-Utenos alus increased export volumes 13 times up to 130 thousand litres.
Ragutis brewery didn’t export beer this year.

Most of beer is exported to the neighbor country, Latvia. Last year Lithuania exported to Latvia about 90% of all exported volumes.
