Last year's extended drought has led to a shortage of barley seeds across the Canadian prairie, the CBC Saskatchewan broadcasting company reports. The shortage may force farmers to switch to other crops, worsening the barley crisis which has already made itself felt to the world's brewers.
Moreover, forecasts for this year speak of continued drought and grasshoppers, adding to the barley industry's woes.
