Carlsberg Breweries Malawi Limited has said it is failing to penetrate SADC regional market because of import barriers in neighbouring countries.

Anders noted that Carlsberg beer prices would be more expensive by 40 percent should the company abide by import rules in theses countries.

Asked why the company does not indicate age limits for their consumers, Carlsberg's senior brands manager Ralph Chirwa said that Carlsberg Breweries only targets markets where the consumers are over the age of eighteen and it emphasises on consumer education campaigns through their advertisements.

"Carlsberg Breweries is not a policing organisation, it believes that Malawians are mature enough and cannot give or sale beer to people under the recommended age of eighteen," Chirwa responded.
