New Zealand company Monteith's have announced a deal currently experiencing double-digit growth in Australia.

According to the agreement its three key brands Monteith’s Original, Monteith’s Black and Monteith’s Golden Lager will be supplied to 500 Woolworth’s liquor stores. The Monteith's Pilsner and Celtic brands are expected to be included into the range during 2003, DB Breweries' managing director, Brian Blake reported.

"Monteith's has a long-standing reputation for producing quality, innovative beer styles. We are currently brewing the brand at both its original West Coast site as well as Waitemata Brewery, which has undergone a $60 million redevelopment in the past two years. This redevelopment allows us to fulfill additional sales opportunities, including this new contract with Woolworths in Australia, while continuing to focus on growing our local market," the company said.

Monteith's was established in 1868 and in 1969 was purchased by DB Breweries. Recently it has spent NZ$60 million for the redevelopment of its Auckland brewery.
