Bavaria S.A., the Colombia’s largest brewer and the Latin America’s fourth-largest brewer, announced on Friday, 6 December, it has approved the purchase for $315 million the remaining shares (55.84%) of the local brewer Cerveceria Leona. With this acquisition Bavaria would own 100% of Leona, which has one of Colombia’s most modern plants.
Bavaria S.A. is owned by New York-based Colombian businessman Julio Mario Santo Domingo, and controls almost all of Colombia's beer market and dominates beer sales in Panama and Ecuador.
