E-Malt.com News article: USA, WI: 1840 Brewing Company planning to join Milwaukee beer scene next year
Brewery news

At the tail end of an extraordinarily fruitful year for Milwaukee microbreweries, it’s looking as if the brewery boom is going to continue into 2017. Soon, 1840 Brewing Company will join local newcomers Good City, Third Space, MobCraft Beer, Black Husky Brewing, Like Minds, and Urban Harvest, as well as the likes of forthcoming Westallion and City Lights, Milwaukee Record reported on November 15.

The so-called “urban farmhouse brewery” is expected to open a modest brewing facility and taproom at 342 E. Ward Street in Bay View next spring. Though it’s going to be the latest in a long line of new Milwaukee microbreweries, 1840 will offer beer that’s strikingly different than much of its local brewing brethren.

According to Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, 1840 owners and husband-wife team Kyle and Stephanie Vetter plan to specialize in aged beers, some of which will use wort.

“Using wort, or unfermented beer, and Old World techniques of blending and barrel-aging, Kyle will create beers that require from three months to three years to be ready. He calls blending the artistic side of brewing.”

Kyle Vetter tells Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel he plans to have the (estimated 80-capacity) taproom open to the public one weekend a month. Once up and running, he hopes 1840 will host monthly VIP beer release events on Fridays, and he plans to rent out the taproom for private events during weekends the brewery isn’t open.
