TOKYO: Japanese brewery Suntory announced on August 17 that its research division has conducted a comprehensive gene analysis of beer yeast and located all genes involved in beer brewing.

In addition, the unit has developed a DNA microarray to measure all gene expressions of beer yeast.

Detailed research results will be presented at the International Congress on Yeasts 2004, under the title "Whole genome sequence and gene expression analysis of a larger brewing yeast."
