E-Malt.com News article: Australia: Coca-Cola Amatil gains exclusive distribution rights to Miller Genuine Draft and Miller Chill in Australia
Brewery news

Coca-Cola Amatil (CCA) and Molson Coors International (MCI) have signed a new deal which will see Miller Genuine Draft and Miller Chill exclusively distributed by CCA in Australia, The Shout reported on October 11.

Molson Coors is now the world’s fifth biggest brewer after AB InBev completed its takeover of SABMiller and the addition of the Miller brand, Australia’s fourth biggest Premium International beer, is “hugely significant” for CCA’s Alcohol and Coffee business.

Shane Richardson CCA’s Managing Director of Alcohol and Coffee said: “This new agreement deepens our existing relationship with Molson Coors, now the world’s third largest brewer, and represents an exciting step in our journey to grow our beer business across Australia.”

The move is part of a new long-term sales and distribution agreement between CCA and MCI, a division of Molson Coors which today acquired the global rights to the Miller brand portfolio as part of the AB InBev deal.

CCA and MCI have been brand partners since 2013 with CCA distributing the Molson Coors beer portfolio, which includes Coors and Blue Moon.

Stewart Glendinning, CEO of Molson Coors International added: “As we welcome the world-famous Miller family of brands into our business globally, we are thrilled to be renewing our partnership with Coca-Cola Amatil.

“For nearly three years, Amatil has done an incredible job introducing the Australian market to Coors and Blue Moon, and we’re excited to continue our work together as we seek to further delight Australian beer drinkers with Miller Chill and MGD.”

The new agreement will see CCA continue to distribute the Molson Coors brands as well as adding Miller Genuine Draft and Miller Chill to its beer portfolio.

CCA’s Group Managing Director Alison Watkins said: “Our relationship with all of our brand partners is built on collaboration, trust and an aligned view on what future success looks like. We have achieved great momentum in our alcohol business over the last two years and this agreement is representative of the type of growth opportunities available within this sector.”
