In July Heineken concluded malt purchases for their European breweries. The Continental EU breweries' cover for 2005 is virtually finished. Export business was reported to Russia, Japan and Central Africa. There are inquiries in the market from South Africa and Southeast Asia. Especially Asia and Latin America still have to buy a large part of their demand for next year. It is feared that Russia will buy less malt than in past years, as several new maltings are operational now or will come on stream during the crop year.
