E-Malt.com News article: USA, TN: Fat Bottom Brewing two months away from completing major expansion project
Brewery news

Fat Bottom Brewing is two months away from completing a major expansion that will relocate the growing company from East Nashville to The Nations, The Tennessean reported on July 7.

New renderings released July 7 show a large industrial taproom with communal seating planned for the site at 800 44th Ave. N. in West Nashville. The 33,000-square-foot building is a massive jump from Fat Bottom’s existing 3,000-square-foot brewery at 900 Main St. on the east side.

The new taproom will be branded The Hop Yard, with a “casual yet creative” food menu, a full bar with 20 beers on tap and a large patio.

Other features will include a private events space called The Reserve that will seat 150 to 200 people and a small beer filling station named The Nations’ Tiniest Beer Store.

The move will give Fat Bottom room to grow its brewing program to include sour and barrel-aged beers, increase the company’s retail offerings and expand its distribution across the Southeast.

The on-site production facility will include a quality control lab with the technology to test the products throughout the brewing process.

The brewery is slated for an early- to mid-September opening. The taproom, event space and retail store will open at the end of September.

Fat Bottom is one of several new restaurants and bars planned for the fast-growing neighborhood in West Nashville, which also has hundreds of homes under construction.

Fat Bottom founder Ben Bredesen said last year he targeted The Nations for its neighborhood feel and because he was able to purchase the site. The brewery was facing capacity issues at its home in East Nashville.

Fat Bottom’s growth is reflective of Nashville’s overall craft beer scene, which has advanced in recent years to include more than 20 craft breweries.
