E-Malt.com News article: USA, NY: Nanobrewery Buffalo Brewing Company hoping to open in October
Brewery news

At first glance, a brick building on the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Spring Street in Buffalo, NY appears nothing more than a deserted garage. But take a closer look and you'll find there's something brewing behind its door, Time Warner Cable News reported on January 4.

John Domres said this is the home of The Queen City's latest suds shop, Buffalo Brewing Company.

"Our motto's 'Good neighbors, great beer' and we're going to live that to the fullest extent that we can,” owner Domres said.

The thought of opening a brewery has been on Domres' mind since 2006, but was put on the backburner as the recession hit two years later. In 2014, he secured the once-LaStella Bleach Factory building and scaled back his thoughts from a bigger operation to a nanobrewery.

"Let's get small, grow organically. No investors, just me and my wife."

A nanobrewery is a term for a very small brewery operation. How small though? Domres said their goal for the year is to brew about 350 barrels, or 8,000 gallons of beer. Comparatively speaking, microbreweries are allowed to produce 75,000 barrels a year.

"I'm going to have to work a real job still but after the fact I’m going to come home, brew beer, and hopefully make it great,” Domres commented.

Domres hopes the brews here will appeal to the craft beer drinkers’ palate, and encourage other up-and-coming brewers to come in and make a batch or two.

"It's been such a long journey that I just want to share it with everybody. Come on in man, let's brew,” Domres exclaimed.

Domres is aiming for Buffalo Brewing Company to open in October, just in time for Buffalo Beer Week.
