E-Malt.com News article: USA, MN: Lake Monster Brewing to open microbrewery in St. Paul next spring or summer
Brewery news

Lake Monster Brewing plans to open a 10,000-square-foot microbrewery and taproom in an old warehouse at 558 Vandalia St. in St. Paul, Business Journal reported on August 7.

Lake Monster debuted in September 2013. Its Empty Rowboat IPA and Calhoun Claw Pilsner beers are sold in about 50 liquor stores and 25 to 30 bars and restaurants in the Twin Cities.

Lake Monster currently brews and bottles its beer through Sand Creek Brewing in Black River Falls, Wis.

The new facility will open next spring or summer with seating for about 150 people, Lake Monster Founder and President Matt Zanetti said. The 3,000-square-foot taproom will be complemented by an outdoor patio.

Production equipment will take up most of the remaining space. The microbrewery would have capacity to brew about 3,500 barrels of beer per year but could be expanded later.

Zanetti, 38, pulled back from his career as a real estate landlord and developer to start the brewery. He credited Brewmaster Matt Lange for creating beers that stand out among a throng of local beer companies.

“Brewing is continuing to boom in Saint Paul and I congratulate Lake Monster on joining this diverse and growing industry in our city,” Mayor Chris Coleman said in a news release. “I look forward to celebrating with Lake Monster when they open next year.”

The city of St. Paul isn't providing any financial incentives or special assistance for the privately-financed project.
