E-Malt.com News article: USA, OH: Crafted Pints Brewing Co. to open in Dayton before the end of the year
Brewery news

A new brewery is fermenting in Dayton, OH, Dayton Daily News reported on June 10.

The owners of Crafted Pints Brewing Co. have leased a barn on the grounds of Hidden Valley Fruit Farm at 5474 N. State Route 48 and hope to open a brewery before the end of the year.

Plans call for producing an array of beers and hard ciders, with the fruit and some hops sourced from Hidden Valley orchards and farm fields, according to co-owner and lead brewer Jerrod Fisher of Dayton. The products would be distributed in both the Dayton and Cincinnati areas in draft form initially, with long-term plans calling for canning the brews for retail sales, Fisher said.

Fisher and his business partners — Mike Meholick and Greg Cason, both of Huber Heights — looked first at locations in downtown Dayton and elsewhere in the region. But Fisher called the partnership with Hidden Valley “a truly unique opportunity.”

The owners’ backgrounds are in design, sales, and marketing, and Fisher said he began home-brewing seven years ago.

“We have finalized recipes for several stouts, IPAs, pale ales, brown ales, saisons and wheat beers,” Fisher said. “We’ll have four to six beers available year-round, and we’ll mix others in and out as seasonal and limited releases.”

Crafted Pints will include a 1,600-square-foot brewery and will utilize a cooler in an adjacent barn that will house kegs awaiting distribution, Fisher said. There are no current plans to serve food other than snacks such as pretzels and chips. An outdoor beer garden is on the drawing board for 2015, Fisher said.

Crafted Pint’s owners are in the process of securing the necessary licensing and expect to spend at least $20,000 in renovations. “Our goal is to be open late this year,” Fisher said.

“Overall, our goal is play a big role in the continued resurgence of brewing in the Miami Valley,” the brewery co-owner said.
