Boston Beer Company announced its financial results for the first quarter of 2002 and said that its net income has decreased by 63%.The brewer, however has given explanations with respect to this drop.

It said that the net income decreased because the expenses for advertising of its new brand Sam Adams Light had tremendously increased . In addition, the brewer mentioned that it intends to expand its advertising campaign for the future with the purpose to expand its Samuel Adams Boston Lager business and to support its seasonal program.

By these campaigns Boston Beer Company aims to rise considerably its sales and increase its shipments for 2002 to 1.35 mln. barrels from 1.1 mln barrels registered in 2001.
