Our Brewing Company - the city’s second downtown craft brewpub - officially opened in Holland, mlive.com reported on November, 15.

“We did two soft openings last month and had to close both times because we ran out of beer,” said co-owner Trevor Doublestein, noting they have enough beer on tap to open weekends Friday through Sunday from 5 p.m. to midnight.

Our Brewing Company does small-batch brewing of 8 to 10 kegs a week in the basement of the brewpub with partner Dane Sexton. They have already ordered new brewing equipment to enhance their brew capacity to 30 kegs a week.

“The first weekend we opened, we sold out 13 kegs in 15 hours and the second time we went through five kegs in five hours,” Doublestein said.

Ten beers will be on tap for the pub's 5 p.m. opening Friday. Among the brews will be Pumpkin Pie Milk Stout, a Belgium pale ale called Foreign Exchange Student, a Centennial Park IPA and a gluten-free beer called St. Celiac, named after the illness caused by gluten in some people's diets.

Our Brewing Company beer prices are $4 for a 16-ounce mug and $6 for high gravity beer with higher alcohol content. Carry-home growlers also are available for sale at varying prices, depending on the beer.

“We had been talking about opening a brewery for years and in January just decided it was time to go out and do it,” said Sexton.

Sexton is financial manager for the company while Doublestein is the general manager for the brewpub.

Head brewer for the operation is Ed DeGalan, who will be overseeing the production of a rotating group of 10 different tap beers.

“We don’t have any mainstay beers yet. We expect our customers will decide that for us,” Doublestein said

Sexton said they chose to open the brewpub in Holland because it is a proven solid market for craft beer, being the home of New Holland Brewery and its downtown brewpub and restaurant.

“We don’t see ourselves as being competition to New Holland. I think we add to the downtown brewpub scene,” he said.
