Taiwan Tobacco and Liquor Corp. (TTLC) is hoping to establish a foothold in the mainland for Taiwan beer. TTLC and Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor, Inc. (KKLI), two of the island's biggest white wine manufacturers, are planning to join hands to make inroads into the mainland Chinese market this year, industry sources said. Kinmen Kaoliang will initially target Fujian province, while TTLC is hoping to establish a foothold in the mainland for Taiwan beer. The new moves are a response to the erosion of domestic market shares by an influx of imports since Taiwan opened its door to liquor imports in 2002.
