E-Malt.com News article: USA, OR: Worthy Brewing Company to open in Bend
Brewery news

The east side of Bend will have a new micro-brewing bar, Kbnd.com reported on February, 24.

City officials and community members will be on hand on February, 24, for the ground-breaking ceremony of the future site of Worthy Brewing Company.

CEO Chad Kennedy says the almost 30,000 square foot facility will feature the brewery, hops gardens and a restaurant. Kennedy says choosing Bend for his new project just came naturally, and he's very excited to help stimulate Central Oregon's economy.

"You know, there's not a lot of good news economically, coming out of this region or much of the country right now. And it's not a small project. I couldn't tell you exactly how many jobs we hope to bring, but more than a few. I think the city's' excited about it. We’re excited to be part of the community here."

Worthy says they will have about 11 beers on tap and will always be experimenting with new recipes. And, along with OSU Agriculture students, will grow different types of hops. Plus, they plan to “can” their beer rather than bottle it. Worth says they are planning a grand opening by January of 2013.
