E-Malt.com News article: USA, CA: Green Flash charts out expansion plans for 2012
Brewery news

California-based craft brewer Green Flash Brewing Company has revealed its plans to expand within its 45,000ft² Mira Mesa facility in San Diego, where it began operations six months ago, Drinks Business Review reported on November, 18.

With an increase in sales volume in the past six months, the brewer has decided to boost its current capacity of 45,000 barrels per year.

The expansion, which is scheduled to begin in spring 2012, will increase the company's capacity to approximately 67,000 barrels per year by June 2012. Green Flash expanded its capacity from 14,000 to 45,000 barrels per year after moving from its Vista location in summer 2011.

Green Flash Brewing Co owner and CEO Mike Hinkley said the company has earmarked space in the facility for several phases of growth that it thought would begin in 2013.

In the second phase of the expansion, the company will continue to concentrate on meeting the demand for its existing products, creating new beer varieties and opening distribution in some small markets by the middle to end of 2012.

Once the entire expansion is complete, the company's Mira Mesa brewery will be able to produce 100,000 barrels per year by the end of 2013, according to Hinkley.

Green Flash Brewing Co's beer lineup includes West Coast IPA, Hop Head Red, Double Stout Black Ale, Imperial, Trippel, Le Freak and Barleywine Style Ale, among others.
