E-Malt.com News article: Australia: GrainCorp warns growers to declare their malting variety correctly
Barley news

Barley growers face costs of tens of thousands of dollars if they incorrectly declare their malting variety at GrainCorp's storage system, Weekly Times Now reported on November, 16.

GrainCorp corporate affairs spokesman David Ginns said there were cases every year where growers claimed they were delivering a particular variety of malting barley when testing later showed it was either a different malting breed or even feed grade.

Mr Ginns said growers incorrectly declaring loads of barley would have that grain automatically downgraded from malting grade to feed. That penalty could cost growers about A$50-A$60 a tonne.
