Canada: Effective January 12, 2004, Sharon McShane will be acting Chief Operating Officer for the Canadian Grain Commission (CGC). This appointment is for approximately three months, through mid-April 2004. Sharon will be replacing Gordon Miles while he is on French language training.

Sharon joined the Canadian Grain Commission in 1998. She has more than 20 years experience in senior management positions, including more than 15 years, as controller or chief financial officer. She also has government experience at the municipal and provincial levels, working for the City of Selkirk and the Province of Manitoba respectively.

Her areas of responsibility have included policy setting, premises, corporate information systems and corporate governance, as well as financial planning and reporting responsibilities. Sharon received her Chartered Accountant designation in 1982. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree and a Bachelor of Science degree, both from the University of Manitoba.
