Brazil: Latin America’s largest brewer, Ambev, is continuing to lose share on its domestic market, according to data reported in the press on December 18. Ambev’s stake of the Brazilian market fell from 63.8% in October to 62.6% in November 2003, according to figures from AC Nielsen, the market research firm. Brazil's largest brewer saw its share of its domestic market fall from 70% to 66% between June and September, under to reports earlier this year.

AmBev has been seeing its share erode steadily, in particular to rival Schincariol, which in November captured 15.2%. Molson Inc, with the brands Kaiser and Bavaria, had 12.4% market share in November.
