E-Malt.com News article: US, OH: Brewers may be allowed to sell beer of up to 18% alcohol
Brewery news

A change proposed for the two-year state budget would allow Ohioans to buy stronger beer, up to 18 percent alcohol, The Republic reported on June, 1.

The current limit is 12 percent.

State Senate Majority Leader Jimmy Stewart said that some of the state's smaller breweries would be very excited about making some limited-time products with higher alcohol content.

Stewart offered the amendment after talking to the owners of a brew pub in his southeast Ohio district.

The beer proposal is among a long list of budget changes unveiled on May, 31 in the Republican-led Senate.
