E-Malt.com News article: Uganda: Nile Breweries posts 23% growth
Brewery news

Nile Breweries Limited has registered a 23% growth in the last six months for the period ending September 30. This performance is attributed to the company’s increased capacity and strong momentum from an expanded brand portfolio, Daily Monitor informed on October 25.

Mr. Nick Jenkinson, the brewer’s managing director, said in a statement last week that the performance is due to the company’s internal efficiencies and favourable external factors.

He said: “Nile Breweries’ key sales drivers included the new production capacity, good rains, harvests, lower food prices, continued momentum for mainstream brands from the longneck bottle, and growing traction for our premium brands particularly Nile Gold and Castle Milk Stout.”

Mr Onapito Ekomoloit, the firm’s corporate affairs director said: “Our growth has been supported by the excise status quo, which has been maintained by the government on beer from local non-malt and imported malt at 20% and 60% respectively in the 2010/11 National budget.”
