E-Malt.com News article: United Kingdom: Carlsberg announces price hike to take effect on February 15
Brewery news

Carlsberg has become the last of UK’s ‘big four’ brewers to announce a price hike for its products, The Publican communicated on January, 26.

The company will raise its wholesale prices by an average of 4p per pint, inclusive of duty, from next month (namely – form February, 15).

The increase will cover all Carlsberg’s UK brands and wholesale products.

AB InBev and Heineken are raising prices by a similar amount, but it emerged last week that Molson Coors is hiking prices by around 7p a pint from March 1.

Chris Houlton sales & distribution director at Carlsberg UK said: "We have worked hard to minimise the price rise and have continued to implement cost reduction business efficiencies to reduce the impact to our customers and consumers as much as possible.”

The company recognised the trading environment is “not easy”, he added, but “genuinely believe we can work with licensees in 2010 to help develop their businesses”.
