After successful four and a half years at the helm of Plzensky Prazdroj, Mike Short is leaving the post of Chief Executive Officer on September 30 to join the Corporate Affairs team at the London office of SABMiller, the owner of Plzensky Prazdroj, the Czech brewery announced on September, 3.

Mike Short is taking up a senior role in this global function of the SABMiller group with effect from October 1.

During his tenure at Plzensky Prazdroj, Mike Short opened a new packaging hall in Pilsen, the most state-of-the-art packaging facility in Central Europe, worth more than CZK 1 billion. He also launched successful eleven-degree beers, Kozel Medium and Gambrinus Excelent as well as the beer specialty Master.

With total sales of over 10.7 million hectolitres in the calendar year 2008 (including licensed production abroad) and exports to more than 50 countries around the world, Plzensky Prazdroj is a major beer producer in the region and the largest exporter of Czech beer.
