Turkey's Efes Brewery Group launched a new brewery in Almaty region, Kazakhstan on August 26, Interfax reported. A source in Efes Karaganda Brewery told journalists that the initial capacity of the brewery would amount up to 60 million liters per annum, with a design capacity of 100 million liters. It is planned that the brewery will reach full capacity in five years.

It was told that Efes Brewery Group investment in building the plant, which was started in October 2001, amounted to about $25 million. The company forecasts that the cost of building the new plant would be recouped over four to five years, with annual tax payments to the budget of $9.3 million.

Total investment by Efes Brewery Group in the Kazakh economy, including the new plant, amounts to $75 million.
