E-Malt.com News article: New Zealand: Coopers Brewery’s subsidiary wins the rights to distribute Budweiser in New Zealand
Brewery news

From October 1 this year Budweiser beer is to be distributed in New Zealand by Coopers Brewery’s Premium Beverages, Coopers announced in a press release on August 22.

The agreement follows the signing of a new contract recently between Anheuser-Busch, the US brewer of Budweiser, and Premium Beverages, an 80% owned subsidiary of Coopers Brewery.

According to Bruce Siney, Premium Beverages’ Managing Director, New Zealand has a very competitive beer market, but there are strong opportunities to further develop the Budweiser
presence.

Premium Beverages Chairman, Dr Tim Cooper, said imported beer was a fast growing category in the New Zealand beer market and Premium Beverages looked forward to the challenge ahead.

Previously, Negociants owned the distribution rights in New Zealand.
