172.8 million litres of beer were sold in Bulgaria during the first six months of the year, by 6% more, versus the first half of 2002, the Union of Bulgarian Brewers revealed. The increase was attributed to recent hot weather. The Union is forecasting a further rise in the coming months. The statistics did not include the sales of the Ledenika and Varnensko Pivo breweries, which the Union said had not submitted their sales reports for the first half of 2003.
