E-Malt.com News article: USA: Point Brewery introduces new beer
Brewery news

Point Horizon Wheat, a new hand-crafted specialty beer from the Stevens Point Brewery, is now available wherever Point brands are sold, Stevens Point Journal published March 11.

Point Horizon Wheat, an unfiltered American-style wheat ale, is sold in six-packs of 12-ounce bottles and kegs in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa and Illinois. Wheat beers are a major, growing segment in the U.S. craft beer market, according to Joe Martino, Stevens Point Brewery managing partner.

“Wheat ales especially have steadily grown in popularity because they are easy to drink, lighter, crisper and more refreshing than many other styles of ale,” Martino said. “As a leading specialty brewer, Stevens Point Brewery's goal is to satisfy consumer demand, and our consumers expect us to participate in all of the popular specialty beer categories.”

Golden in color, Point Horizon Wheat is brewed with malted spring wheat, specialty barley malts and Yakima hops, and is top-fermented with American ale yeast.

The wheat imparts a unique, citrus-like character to the beer's flavor, said John Zappa, Stevens Point brew master. “Point Horizon Wheat is unfiltered and features a thick, creamy white head,” he said. “This new beer is smooth, well-balanced and thirst-quenching. It's the perfect style of beer to garnish with a slice of lemon, lime or orange, and it is a great accompaniment for many types of food, complementing pasta dishes and other grain-based foods especially well.”
