E-Malt.com News article: Nigeria: Tiger Beer targeting growth in Nigeria’s beer market
Brewery news

Drink maker Tiger Beer is targeting growth in Nigeria’s beer market with a refreshed product offering, updated visual identity and changes to its lager profile as consumer preferences continue to evolve, The Punch reported on July 22.

The brand, owned by Nigerian Breweries Plc, has introduced a new version of its lager featuring a smoother taste profile, reduced bitterness, lighter mouthfeel and cleaner finish, while retaining the characteristics associated with Tiger Beer.

The product update also includes redesigned packaging with a new die-cut label and refreshed visual elements as the company seeks to strengthen its position in Nigeria’s competitive beer market.

Portfolio Manager for Premium Beer at Nigerian Breweries Plc, Maria Shadeko, said the changes reflect shifts in consumer expectations and the evolving role of beer in social occasions.

“Consumers today are becoming more intentional about the experiences they choose. We are seeing growing interest in products that deliver refreshment while fitting naturally into social occasions. The refreshed Tiger responds to those changing preferences while remaining true to the brand’s identity,” Shadeko said in a statement.

The move comes as beverage companies adjust their strategies to changing consumption patterns, with consumers increasingly considering factors such as taste, quality and overall experience when making purchasing decisions.

Nigeria’s beer market has experienced changing dynamics in recent years, including evolving consumer preferences, economic pressures and increased competition among local and international brands.

Tiger Beer said the latest update will be supported by consumer engagement activities, content initiatives and collaborations aimed at increasing awareness of the refreshed product.

The company’s latest move reflects broader efforts by beverage manufacturers to adapt their offerings and capture opportunities in Nigeria’s large consumer market.
