E-Malt.com News article: India: Mount Everest Breweries exceeds one million hectolitres in annual sales
Brewery news

India’s Mount Everest Breweries Limited (MEBL) has announced it has exceeded one million hectolitres in annual sales, positioning it as one of India’s fastest-growing beer producers. The milestone translates into approximately 12.8 million cases sold, reflecting robust demand across its widening national footprint, Asia Brewers Network reported on April 13.

The growth has been led by MEBL’s flagship brand STOK, which crossed one million cases in cumulative sales, driven by rapid expansion over the past three years. The brand is now distributed across 14 states and three Union Territories, a notable achievement in India’s highly regulated and state-fragmented alcohol market, where distribution licences and taxation structures vary significantly by region. The company’s broader portfolio, including Lemount and Mount, has also extended reach to more than seven states.

The performance is set against a backdrop of the steadily expanding Indian beer sector, where annual volumes are estimated at more than 350 million cases, with premium and strong beer segments continuing to be strongest drivers of growth. Industry data suggests that strong beers account for more than 80% of total consumption, the segment in which STOK is positioned.

MEBL’s aggressive expansion strategy has sustained its double-digit growth with targeted investment in local production capacity. The company’s acquisition of a brewery in Mysore in 2025 has increased its total production capacity to approximately 3.5 million hectolitres, improving supply chain efficiency and enabling deeper market penetration in southern India. The move aligns with the broader industry trend of brewers investing in regional production hubs to mitigate logistics costs and navigate interstate distribution constraints.

Operational execution remains central to MEBL’s growth model, with a focus on cold-chain logistics and distribution aimed at maintaining product quality in a climate-sensitive market.

Vedant Kedia, Whole Time Director of Mount Everest Breweries Limited, described the achievement as a defining moment for the company, and that its continued investment in production capacity, distribution and product quality will be key to maintaining the company’s double-digit growth trajectory.
