UK: British production of beer declined 11.1% in July 2004, the Office for National Statistics revealed on September 7. ONS said the decline in beer output was probably a hangover from the rise in production seen in June as a result of the Euro 2004 soccer tournament. It was also the largest month-on-month drop in almost 10 years. "It's now increasingly apparent that all sectors of the economy are entering a soft patch," said Gavin Redknap, economist at Standard Chartered.
