Mexico: Antitrust regulators in Mexico are investigating anticompetitive practices in the country’s beer market. The Federal Competition Commission (CFC) said yesterday that it would investigate whether actions, contracts, or agreements are blocking competitors’ access to vendors or pushing them out of the market.

In a research note on August 25, Deutsche-Ixe analysts said that they suspect the plaintiff, who was not identified by the CFC, is a foreign brewer with a limited presence in Mexico. Earlier complaints by a local competitor had been unsuccessful.

The CFC said that its probe would cover the entire country. Femsa and Modelo dominate the Mexican beer market.
