Czech breweries produced 14.041 million hectolitres of beer in January-September 2003, an increase of 1% year-on-year, according to data released on November 24 by the Czech Statistics Office. According to local brewers, the rise was mainly due to the high temperatures in the summer months.

Pivovary Staropramen registered an increase in volume by 6% to 1.8 million hectolitres of beer. Production at Plzensky Prazdroj rose by 5%, while Bernard brewery expects its production for the year to reach 122,000 hectolitres of beer, which would be the brewery’s best result since 1994.

All breweries in the Czech Republic expect a considerable rise in production before Christmas.
