SABMiller, owner of Polish Kompania Piwowarska, said that Polish plumbers who find work in UK, particularly in the building trade, have pushed sales of Tyskie brand to jump 400% in 2005, This is Money published October 29.

Tyskie, Poland's largest beer brand, was launched in the UK only last year, but already has a 31% share of Polish beer sales here.

SABMiller's Polish subsidiary, Kompania Piwowarska, expects exports of its brands, Tyskie and Lech, to double in the current financial year. Alan Clark, managing director-of SABMiller Europe, said: “The migration of nationalities since the formation of the European Union has increased import and export volumes considerably as customers demand familiar brands.”

Up to 700,000 Poles found jobs in EU countries last year and two million are believed to be looking for work.
