Brewery news

Diageo has opened a SG$13 million logistics hub in Tuas. The facility will handle all of Diageo's Asia Pacific logistics requirements, Channel NewsAsia released October 10.

The supply chain process at the Tuas facility, which has a modern Automatic Storage and Retrieval System, is said to be the first of its kind for the alcohol beverage industry in Asia.

The process will cut the time from production through to the point when the products are available for sale to 1 to 3 weeks, from the previous 8 to 10 weeks.

The centre will handle 3.5 million cases of Diageo beverages in the first year, growing to 6 million cases next year and 8 million in subsequent years.

It will allow Diageo to store inventory to the value of SG$60 million.

With the facility, Diageo will be able to roll out last minute orders quickly to specific markets.

Diageo makes a range of spirits, wine and beer.

Its brands include Smirnoff, Johnnie Walker, Guinness, Baileys, J&B, Captain Morgan, Cuervo, Tanqueray, Crown Royal and Beaulieu Vineyard and Sterling Vineyards wines.
