The management of Sona Breweries Plc has projected to take in US$3 million from the sale of Maltonic brand through the export markets in the United Kingdom and West Africa, The Tide released August 22.

Meanwhile, the company has started the shipment of one of its major brands, Maltonic to international markets, apparently to project the made-in-Nigerian branch and also earn some foreign currencies.

Currently, Maltonic is in the United Kingdom and some West African countries. The management of the company disclosed that the new development is in line with the company’s plan to create a niche market for the Nigerian brands in their respective countries.

The company’s executive director, Mr. Thompson Owoka, who disclosed this in Ogun State recently said that the re-launching of Maltonic into the Nigerian market was an immediate response by the company to meet increasing demand from the various segments of the market including consumers and distributors of the products.

He said: “Maltonic is ready for the export markets since it has complied with NAFDAC’s regulations and those of the United Kingdom and other foreign markets such as Europe and America.

The company is ready to export about 50,000 cartons to the various foreign markets. He said further that the company would certainly make profit by selling these products to outside world.

According to him, “also Sona Breweries has conducted plans to expand the distribution channels of Maltonic which is expected to cover the length and breath of the country and outside. The product is currently being consumed heavily in all parts of the geo-political zones of the country.

Mr. Owoka explained further that the re-launching of Maltonic is the success story of the strategic repositioning of Sona Breweries to satisfy the yearnings of its teeming consumers across the country.
