E-Malt.com News article: Russia & Ukraine: Barley crops estimated at 11.888 million t in Ukraine, 18 million t in Russia

New crop prospects are good in the Ukraine, experts released August 01. UkrAgroConsult has just increased its barley crop estimate to 11.886 million t, vs. 8.824 million t in 2005.

IGC and USDA anticipate a Russian barley crop between 17.5 and 18 million t and exports of 2.2 million t during the crop year 2006/07. Weather has been less ideal than in the Ukraine.

Prospects of malting barley receivals are seen with a light apprehension in view of the state of crops and the large demand of 1.8 million t.
