Having been restricted for years to promote low-alcohol beer only, brewers will now be able to advertise all beers freely in Sweden.

In the wake of the unprecedented verdict recently, when the country's Market Court ruled that the all-out ban on alcohol advertising was unlawful under EC law, all but one of the political parties in the Swedish Parliament have agreed to put forward a new advertsing law that bans marketing of alcoholic beverages stronger than 15 per cent, thus clearing the way for about all available beers in the country.

It remains unclear when the new law will be passed.
