Brewery news

DB Breweries’ Amstel Light has cemented its place in the local beer industry after taking top light beer honours at BrewNZ , DB Breweries announced on August 5.

Brewed locally at DB’s Waitemata Brewery, Amstel Light won the Best in Class trophy for the Light or Non-Alcohol Beer category at the New Zealand Beer Awards held in July at BrewNZ.

Rene de Monchy, DB’s Group Brand Manager – Premium, says that Amstel Light’s impressive performance in the market is a direct result of its high quality, and this has been confirmed by the brand’s winning performance at BrewNZ. “The premium beer market in this country continues to grow as more New Zealanders seek high quality, European style beers. Amstel Light is locally brewed to international brewing standards so is a great tasting, premium light beer option,” says Mr de Monchy. “Winning this Best in Class trophy further reinforces why New Zealanders enjoy the taste of Amstel Light.”

DB Breweries is celebrating further success from this year’s NZ Beer awards with Export Gold winning Best in Class for the NZ Lager category, and Export Dry winning Best in Class for the NZ Premium Lager category. Both DB Draught and Monteith’s also won several awards.

The BrewNZ New Zealand Beer Awards are the national brewing awards for the local industry. Running for four years, the awards follow the structure and standards of the US World Beer Cup.
