South Africa: South Africa’s farmers are to increase malting barley area from 82,650 to 85,000 hectares in 2005-2006 crop year, according to the latest estimates from the South African Grain Information Service (SAGIS).

Grain production in South Africa could jump 2 million metric tonnes (MT) above least season to a forecast 13.6 million MT for the 2004-05 season, according to SAGIS.
