USA, San Francisco: Anheuser-Busch claimed a victory against rival Adolph Coors on Friday, December 24, 2004, saying that Coors had responded to its objections about Aspen Edge beer advertisements by pulling the spots from CBS. Anheuser-Busch said it had learned that Coors pulled the advertisements, which compared Aspen Edge, a low-carb light beer, to A-B's Michelob Ultra beer, according to CBS MarketWatch.

The St. Louis-based brewer said the Coors ads were "misleading and make unsubstantiated claims about consumers' taste preferences." Anheuser-Busch said it expressed its objections to Coors about the ads on Nov. 12, then later filed a challenge with CBS.

Anheuser-Busch mentioned this past week that SABMiller has had several of its ads pulled from CBS, Disney's ABC, General Electric's NBC. The company said it challenged SABMiller's ads because they made unsubstantiated claims about taste preference over its Bud Light brand.

CBS parent Viacom holds a significant stake in MarketWatch Inc., the publisher of this report.
