Brewery news

The Coast reports that the owner of Rockbottom Brewpub and neighbouring restaurant Your Father’s Moustache in Halifax will soon be opening a new brewery across the harbour in Dartmouth.

Shaun O’Hearn is partnering with distant cousin Danny O’Hearn to open Nine Locks Brewery, which is named after the nine locks of the nearby Shubenacadie Canal.

Brewers Jake Saunders and Chris Downey will be lunching the brewery with six brands – “an IPA, extra special bitter, white, American pale ale, porter and an India session ale” – with distribution in growlers and kegs at the brewery, and in cans at the brewery, NSLC and private stores.

Nine Locks Brewery is planned to open at 219 Waverley Road in late November.
