The new 10,000-square-foot Tarboro Brewing Co. is set to open in a few months, Rocky Mount Telegram reported on July 14.

Inez and Stephen Ribustello, owners of the popular On the Square restaurant in Tarboro, said they plan to start selling beer at the new microbrewery at the corner of West John and Main Street in Tarboro by the middle of September.

“That is the goal we’re aiming for, and we’ve done a lot of structural work,” Stephen Ribustello said. “We’re almost ready to get going.”

Inez Ribustello said the new pub in downtown Tarboro will be developed in three sections.

“The production side is the first phase; second is the exterior of the building; and third is the taproom,” Ribustello said.

“The development of the project was helped by a $200,000 Main Street Solution grant through the N.C. Department of Commerce,” Ribustello said. “The Tarboro Town Council approved the resolution in fall 2014.”

In addition, the Ribustellos said they raised $16,000 from investors last September and more than $15,000 through the crowdfunding website Indiegogo in July 2013.

The Ribustellos said Franklin Winslow, who runs Yards Brewing Co. in Philadelphia, is their partner.

The certified wine stewards are confident the new brewery can become a place that can help showcase the town, increase tourism and handcraft quality beer.

“We always wanted to do a brewery, and we’re big supporters of Tarboro and the surrounding areas,” Stephen Ribustello said. “This is going to be great for Tarboro, and what you see with breweries is that they tend to revitalize neighbourhoods.”

"We’re hoping this creates an environment where there will be an influx of people who come to Tarboro and want to spend money in this area,” Stephen Ribustello added.
