Wyoming microbreweries would be able to produce more beer under legislation endorsed by a Senate panel, localnews8.com reported on February 12.

The Senate Revenue Committee unanimously recommended House Bill 82 on February 12, sending it to the full Senate for debate.

The legislation proposed by Republican Rep. Ruth Ann Petroff, of Jackson, would increase the maximum amount of malt beverages that a microbrewery can produce from 15,000 barrels a year to 50,000 barrels.

If a microbrewery surpasses the annual barrel production limit, it would be considered a brewery under state law.

Petroff explains that microbreweries enjoy certain advantages over a large brewer under state law.

For instance, microbreweries can sell their product on site and distribute their product on their own.

Mike Moser, of the Wyoming Liquor Association, says the microbrewery industry in Wyoming is growing.
